Where and how are dog clothes made?

In a world where transparency and origin matter as much as style, the way dog clothes are made deserves real attention. At Pimpan, every piece is designed with intention: not just to elevate your dog’s wardrobe, but to support ethical production and responsible sourcing at every step.

Where are dog clothes made?

Most dog clothes available online are manufactured in Asia, often under unclear conditions. While this reduces costs, it also significantly increases environmental impact due to long-distance shipping and raises concerns around labor standards.

At Pimpan, we made a very different choice:
our entire collection is made in Europe, in Portugal, Romania, and Italy. This decision allows us to:

  • drastically reduce our carbon footprint from transportation
  • build direct, trusting relationships with our manufacturing partners
  • ensure ethical and transparent working conditions

Each garment is produced in workshops known for their craftsmanship and expertise, similar to those used in premium human fashion.

What materials are used in dog clothing?

In the petwear industry, synthetic and low-grade fabrics are still the standard: cheap to produce, but often uncomfortable and not environmentally friendly.

Pimpan goes the opposite way, using only certified European materials:

  • GOTS-certified organic cotton: woven in Portugal and used in our Essentials line, it guarantees reduced water use, no pesticides, and responsible farming practices.
  • GRS-certified recycled synthetics: woven in Italy and used in our Outerwear line, these materials combine technical performance with environmental responsibility.

Each fabric is selected for its softness, durability, and minimal impact on the planet.

Can dog clothing be eco-friendly?

In a world where fast fashion has also entered the pet space, it’s rare to find dog garments that are both stylish and sustainable.

Pimpan proves that eco-consciousness and high-end aesthetics can go hand in hand:

  • we produce in small, carefully controlled quantities
  • we use certified organic and recycled materials
  • we prioritize durability over trend cycles

Buying a Pimpan piece means choosing quality over quantity, and rejecting throwaway culture.

What working conditions are behind the making of dog wear?

The Pimpan production model is built on a simple principle: respect for the people who make our products.

Unlike mass production in low-cost countries, where labor rights are often uncertain, our European workshops provide:

  • legally protected working hours and conditions
  • fair wages
  • safe and respectful environments

Choosing European manufacturing is a guarantee of transparency, quality and integrity — values that guide every decision we make.
